How to Steal your Competitors’ Web Traffic

web traffic

Admit it: you’ve been wondering how to rank higher than your competitors and how to get more traffic to your own website. I have some solutions for that and, rest assured, despite the “steal” in the title, you won’t have to do anything illegal. You simply need to use a few tools wisely and spend a bit more time on content creation.

Target some of their keywords

Tools like SEMrush can help you identify what are the top 10 keywords that help your competitors rank higher. Simply type your competitor’s link and you will get the list of keywords, as well as the estimated number of searches for each of them and the page where users land for each keyword.

Next step: write your own content that targets those keywords. Make sure that it is better and more keyword-dense than that of your competitor. Keep in mind that you will also have to write more content than your competitors in order to outrank them.

Get some of your competitors’ quality backlinks

Go to Ahrefs and find out which websites link and send visitors to your competitor’s website. Read the articles that link to them carefully. Can you produce such content yourself? If so, go for it! Then ask those websites to publish yours, too.

Become a thought leader in your industry

The best way to get more traffic is for Google to believe that you are an influencer in your field. In order to get there, produce a lot of quality content and start networking like a pro. Connect with other professionals in your field, get them to write guests posts on your blog or guest post yourself on their blogs – every new link to and mention of your website gets you one step closer to becoming a thought leader and getting more traffic.

Don’t neglect paid advertising

All social networks are considered high authority websites, so a link on Facebook, Google+, Twitter or Pinterest can improve your ranking greatly. However, organic reach on social media websites (especially Facebook is decreasing more and more) and you will need paid advertising in order to reach more fans and have them click on your links. The good news is that on most social networks you can target the audience using a lot of social, economic and demographic criteria, so this may also result in leads, not just traffic.
